Logo design
Mission and military patches served as inspiration, while also borrowing heavily from the symbols used in flight maps. The A is the symbol for “Obstacles less than 1000′ AGL (above ground level).” The star is a “Rotating beacon in operation, sunset to sunrise,” a feature of the airport where the squadron keeps their planes. “1975” is the squadron’s founding year, but it’s typographic treatment references the MSL (mean sea level) ceiling and floor altitude markings.

Branding applied to baseball cap, flight bag and water bottle.
Design Notes
As the client was unfamiliar with the design process, and so that we could develop the ideas together, I shared all exploration, from simple typeface research, to visual ideas and color palettes, to tentative logo directions. The heightened communication really helped move things along and was worth the extra effort.
