Design as an editing process
Working with an independent PR company, the goal was to illustrate each press-release using infographics, graphs and images. Survey results were condensed until only the most relevant information was left, so that they could be understood at-a-glance. While the end result looks simple, the work involved to turn large blocks of text into simplified visual points was quite challenging.
Design Notes
As the headline above states, this was design as an editing process. By rereading the press-release text many times, I would begin to get a sense of where paragraphs could be combined or flipped, where a sentence could be shortened and become a headline, where a paragraph and two number charts could be turned into a series of infographics. It’s a process of editing, then editing again.
The design followed a corporate style guide, so color and font choices were predetermined. It was my task to make these press-releases fit in with their overall look.
